The OG: Edwardian Charmer
The start of our Airbnb journey back in 2017.
I undertook a full scale renovation and fit out on a dilapidated inner west terrace and pivoted my career from a commercial sales and marketing background into interior design. I then set about understanding how to develop it into an asset, to enable a lifestyle change for our young family.
We had 13 inquiries and 3 bookings within 8 hours of listing. Featured in TV and editorial advertising, a film shoot and host to wedding parties, I loved that guests were going to enjoy our place as much as we do.
I used several of the supposed top performing pro-management companies to look after our home when I was overseas. There were several horror stories I had to deal with on an opposing time zone, as it seemed these businesses were just not cut out to give guests the level of experience which was important to us. I also found that due to their business models of scale, they weren't managing the pricing or occupancy on our place as well as they could.
In order to gain deeper industry knowledge, I worked alongside a leading national Proptech company, developing one of their largest and most successful portfolios in AU.
Over a 4 year period I had gained considerable insights to understand what was important to both clients and guests and developed Cleary & Co. to ensure that I could meet the needs of both. I strongly believe that with collaboration and an open and honest approach, we have developed a tried and tested formula to success.
